My name is Marina Magalhães, and I’ve been a French teacher for 4 years.
During this time, I’ve helped over 300 students earn scholarships, move abroad, and travel while communicating with confidence.
I studied French and Portuguese Language and Literature at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro).
I also hold the DALF C2 diploma.
Today, I am continuing my studies at the University of Lisbon with a major in French Studies and a minor in Literary Theory. I strongly believe that learning a language goes far beyond grammar: it opens doors to cultures, ideas, and new forms of expression.
My academic experience has taught me to value clarity, listening, and dialogue, values that I bring to each class. I see French as the language of all the people who speak it; my goal is to help you find your own voice in French.

What do my students think of the route?
"I started my classes with Maru in 2022, before my exchange program in the city of Quebec. I wanted to learn the basics so I could blend in with the city’s French culture. The lessons were essential not only for me to be understood but also for developing such a deep connection with the province that it made me want to return to study in Montreal in 2024.
According to provincial Canadian law, anyone pursuing higher education must prove their level of French. I chose to take the TCF exam and didn’t think twice about becoming Maru’s student again for this challenge — from the very beginning, she focused 100% on the test, on my difficulties, and motivated me in every class, which helped me achieve an excellent result.
Maru is not just a teacher; she’s truly a motivator of dreams and goals. I might be biased, but I recommend her work to everyone around me. For me, it’s nothing but gratitude."
